After a long a long hiatus from St. Charles and Main street, it was nice to walk into this bar again. I would agree w/ most of the posters about this pub, it is great! I would have to say that there is always a very friendly atmosphere at The Mill. Having not been in the Mill for 3 or so years I really have to say this is a rare gem amidst the bland bars in the St. Charles/St. Louis area. I would highly recommend this bar to anyone. After reviewing Pat's review of this bar I would have to say, give it a second chance. Definitely a bar that would rival most of the South St. Louis/West End bars I frequent. Cheers -J

Gotta love an atmosphere that combines great beer, music, and conversation. I can officially call the mill my 'Cheers.' I have made great friends and memories thanks to the wonderful beer and people. OK, it was mostly beer. Thanks to all who have made this bar the place to be in good times and bad.

I love the Mill. It is the best bar in St. Charles. The posts about underage drinking are B.S.- I've seen many underage kids try to drink on the patio in the summer and they are promptly carded. They don't have beer on tap but a great selection none the less. It is unpretentious and the best place I've found to drink a good beer on Main- much better than the Peach Pit, I mean Trailhead.

This is one of the finest historic pubs I have ever been in. The atmosphere is very welcoming and family like. I have always been greeted the moment I walk in. The bar selection is tremendous. The current owner is very dedicated to being unique in his offerings. What a great experience to be sitting on the patio next to a stream surrounded by beautiful trees, plants, and beautiful scenery. You will love it.

I have worked at this bar for 5 years now, and I am not here to rate it. We received some horrible reviews below and I would like to respond to Pat Mcpherson, who obviously had a bad day when he came to the bar in the first place. We have a beautiful patio that attracts many passers-by and the bar itself is about as laid back as it gets. There were comments made about minors not being identified. For Pat's information 85-90% of our customers are repeat everyday regulars, and wouldn't it be silly to check their ID every day. I am 28 and the kids look younger and younger to me, but believe me Pat we are very strict when it comes to that. We have over 40 beers to choose from, which seems like a great selection to me. I am sorry that anyone would have a bad experience there, but honesetly Mr. McPherson, you really should know what you are talking about before slandering someone or something. I think we have a great bar and I would encourage everyone to come by, especially on a nice day, and check us out!!

My boyfriend Scott just wrote a review and didn't bother to get my input about the Old Mill Stream. We both enjoy this bar very much. You'll have to see it for yourself and enjoy the finest atmosphere anywhere. P.S. I'll try to save you a seat!

...after eating and drinking in hundreds of bars I finally found one to call my "home bar". It may be just you and the bartender for an hour or so...which is okay because they're all great!...before long a small group of three will come in...and then another and it's starting to get crowded...I like it alot and think that everyone should check it out...see ya'

I agree with the second poster on this place. I recommned not stepping foot in this establishment. The food is less then desirable, mostly store bought frozen foods. The beer is easily found at any local grocery store. The service is lacking in effort and curtesy. I traveled to this "pub" for a night of drinking, after staying for 4 hours watching as multiple underage kids came through the door with no fear. The bartenders rarely identified anyone. The onwner of the establishment, Troy, was to busy playing his arcade game and getting drunk to watch the bartenders carelessly serve liquor to minors. The patio was all of the same, my server was a short brown hair young lady, who did not card a single person who came to the patio. All though she did under charge my table about 20 dollars, the service was lacking. All in all the bar is a hole in the floor not worthy enough to call itself a pub. In my short stay I came to the conclusion that this bar is a one bored cop away from getting their liquor license removed and being cited by the city. Nevermind the conditions of the bathrooms and kitchen area. My recomendation is to stay clear of the bar and go to Rick's or Trailhead if your looking for something to drink or go get a six pack of beer and drink in your basement it has the same atmosphere

Beautiful little pub next to (of all places) a mill stream. Wonderful outdoor setting just off downtown Main street in historic St. Charles. When the weather cooperates, I definetly prefer this pub to the microbrew next door. They do serve food, bar food that is. It's intentions are not too have a huge food selection and excellent service. The wait staff usually consists of one or two guys who have a grill and some potato chips. But it's the best selection of one-of-a-kind imports I've seen. Sit back on the patio, enjoy your import and the exquisite and unique atmosphere!

Avoid this hot, humid, little hell-hole like the plague. No beer on taps with a limited supply of bottled beer that could be found at any major grocery store. I almost didn't find the door to get in. One employee who was lurking around outdoors as I was searching for the entrance fessed up that he was ignoring me because he thought I worked for the health department. Out of obligation I had one beer. When I got up to leave (one employee (who had brought his 4 year old in with him) got hatefull with me for leaving after having only one beer--said "I didn't bring any liturgic (sp?) acid in." No air conditioning on a hot humid day put the icing on an awful experience. Blow this place off and go next door to Trailhead.

Great place to be; this is a great time for those of us that enjoy outdoor atmosphere and a great selection of imports to choose from. Try a "Berliner" a great combination of raspberry syrup swirled around your glass and a heavy wheat beer.
